Are you ready for the holiday festivities this evening? We still have a few finishing touches we need to add to our Fondue and Games Night. We have the fondue menu and wine pairings on a budget – now we need find some games to play, pick an outfit and create a few surprises for our guest to help them ring in the new year.
Games – how do we narrow down the selection? There are so many great options! I love the idea of going old school and bringing back some of my favorites from childhood. SORRY was always a favorite. It could get pretty cut throat in my family but always brought on the laughs and sometimes tears when you heard the dreaded SORRY called out and saw your game piece moved back to square one. Other favorites were fun card games such as UNO and SKIP BO. Want to add in a newer classic? Left Right Center (LCR) is a fun fast pace game that is great for a crowd. A fun dice game, it can get interesting when you add some cash to the mix. Whether you play with quarters, $1 bills or even $5 bills, it makes it fun and brings out some healthy competition. Do you have some game suggestions? What are your favorites?
Since this is a low key house party, keep the decor simple and comfortable. Enjoy one last hurrah with your holiday decorations and maybe add in a few party hats and noise makers for midnight. Keeping it simple doesn’t mean you can’t add some fun little favors to make the new year special.
Speaking of nostalgia – remember the paper fortune tellers from elementary school? These would be a great addition to the party and a fun way to look forward to 2013.
Rather than focusing on what you want to change in 2013, I love the idea focusing on what is great about the year, those little moments that pop up and we tend to forget about. I saw this great idea on PINTEREST for a jar of good moments. You can write a wish for 2013 for each of your guests and put it in a empty jar. Then the guest can bring the jar home and fill it with happy moments and memories they collect over 2013. They then have a nice group of memories they can read on New Year’s Eve 2013. Great Idea!
And lastly – what to wear? Some sparkle of course! New Year’s Eve is the perfect excuse to add a little sparkle to your outfit. Here are a few outfit inspirations I found on PINTEREST that would look great and be comfortable as you host this celebration.
Happy New Year! Have a wonderful fun and safe evening. See you in 2013 my friends!!!!
