I’m In Trouble Now – My Employee Discount Wish List

Recently I was at the mall having my laptop serviced at the Apple Store (love the Genius Bar) – needing to kill some time before my appointment, I figured I would take a little walk and see what the trends were for fall.  During my window shopping, I noticed a sign at Pottery Barn Kids advertising they were hiring Design Specialists.  On a whim I decided to go in and find out what this was all about.  Since I’m recently laid off I thought this might be a great way to do something I love (design) and make some extra pocket change at the same time.  I also know they have a generous employee discount and have to admit that was the icing on the cake – 40% off, woo hoo!!!  Count me in!!!

With previous experience working for Williams-Sonoma and a fairly open schedule, I was a good fit to be hired for the position and started this week.

After my first shift today, I roamed the various Williams-Sonoma brand stores so I could dream of all the things I wanted to buy with my new discount.  Too bad my disposable income is a bit limited these days!  Oh well, it doesn’t hurt to make a wish list.

Here are some of my faves –

Pottery Barn for me is all about accessories – pillows for my living room, sheets to go with my duvet, a new quilt to replace my old Pottery Barn one which I love but has seen better days, a shower curtain I think will go great in my mom’s guest bathroom and the window mirror I have coveted since it first showed up in their catalog.

West Elm is my favorite store in the brand.  The urban contemporary but accessible style grabs at me the most.  Plus they have owls as part of their collection – I Love Owls!!

Having worked at Williams-Sonoma in the past, I am one of the first people friends turn to when creating their wedding registry.  I can walk you through picking out the right knives, why All-Clad is worth the money and what those fancy, unrecognizable kitchen tools are really for (hello mango pitter).  Here are a few items I would love to add to my kitchen and regret not buying years ago.

And since I am working at Pottery Barn Kids, I couldn’t resist doing a bit of shopping for my new nephew as Auntie loves to spoil Baby O.  I found some things to help round off his nursery decor and the R2D2 Rug my brother can’t stop talking about.  He says he wants it for when Oliver is bigger but I know he really wants it for himself.  Not sure how my sister-in-law will feel about it in their bedroom.  Of course, how cute are the animal towels and adorable Halloween Costumes.  My vote is for Oliver to be a lobster in honor of his Maine roots.

What do you love from the Williams-Sonoma brand stores?  What is on your wish list?
